WHAT DOES THE DPF DO ?
A diesel particulate filter, sometimes called a DPF, is a device
designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the
exhaust gas of a diesel engine. Wall-flow diesel particulate filters
usually remove 85% or more of the soot, and can at times
(heavily loaded condition) attain soot removal efficiencies of
close to 100%. A diesel-powered vehicle equipped with a fully
functioning filter will emit no visible smoke from its exhaust pipe.
In addition to collecting the particulate, a method must exist to
clean the filter. Some filters are single-use (disposable), while
others are designed to burn off the accumulated particulate,
either through the use of a catalyst (passive), or through an active technology, such as a fuel
burner which heats the filter to soot combustion temperatures, through engine modifications (the
engine is set to run a certain specific way when the filter load reaches a pre-determined level,
either to heat the exhaust gases, or to produce high amounts of NO2, which will oxidize the
particulates at relatively low temperatures), or through other methods. This is known as "filter
regeneration". Sulfur in the fuel interferes with many "regeneration" strategies, so almost all
jurisdictions that are interested in the reduction of particulate emissions, are also passing
regulations governing fuel sulfur levels.
WHY DO WE OFFER A DPF REMOVAL SERVICE ?
The Diesel Particulate Filter fitted to the exhaust sytem is designed to be more ECO friendly to the
enviroment and is supposed to catch upto 80% of the soot that comes out of your exhaust, but this
system is not without it's problems and it is causing a lot of vehicles to break down, this is because
as the soot levels build up in the filter the vehicle does what is called a regeneration process, which
involves pumping loads of extra fuel into the filter, which is designed to reach a very high
temperature to burn the soot out of the DPF, sadly it doesn't always do this correctly and this can
lead to the DPF getting too blocked with soot to do a regeneration and which can also cause
unburnt fuel to enter the sump of the vehicle causing the oil level to become too high which will also
cause engine damage.
WHAT SERVICES CAN YOU OFFER ME ?
At the DPF Centre we specialise in removing the DPF software from the ECU of most vehicles, this
will stop the engine from doing the regeneration process and will tell the vehicle that the DPF
particulate filter is no longer attached to the exhaust of the vehicle, after this process it would need
the DPF filter removing from the exhaust as it will get even more blocked very quickly, once the
DPF filter is removed from the vehicle the difference in how the vehicle drives and the better fuel
economy will amaze you.
We can offer just the software for the ECU to be modified so that you can take the vehicle to a
garage of your choice to have the DPF filter removed from the exhaust or we can provide a
Please note that when we do the complete service that we remove the filter correctly which
involves removing the DPF filter from the exhaust and we then cut open the DPF and remove all the
DPF material so that the filter is clear and we then weld the DPF back together and then refit it back
to your vehicle so that the vehicle still has the physical filter attached.
WHAT DOES IT COST ?
Because all vehicles are different and have different types of filters it is not possible to list the
prices here, but you can be assured that we offer a very competetive price and the workmanship is
of the highest quality.
It is our number one priority for customer satisfaction.
